This adorable Amigurumi turtle is worked in separate pieces and sewn together.
The shell uses popcorn stitches for texture, while the rest of the turtle is kept simple and smooth, do not worry if you don’t know these stitches, I will walk you through it all.
So grab your hook and let’s get started.
Materials
- Medium Weight Yarn
- 4mm Hook
- Purple for Shell
- Green for Body
- Yarn Needle
- scissors
- small amount of stuffing ( microfiber filling )
Stitches and Abbreviations
- MR – Magic Ring
- SC – Single Crochet
- INC – Increase
- DEC – Decrease
- POPCORN – 5 DC into same stitch, pull your hook from the last stitch, insert in the first dc and pull through first DC
- SLST – Slip Stitch
- FO – Fasten Off
TURTLE SHELL – TOP PART Purple

- rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)
- rnd 2: inc x 6 (12)
- rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
- rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
- rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
- rnd 6: (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36)
- rnd 7: popcorn in first stitch, sc in next stitch repeat around
(18 popcorn, 18 sc) - rnd 8: sc ONLY in the sc of previous round (18 sc)
- rnd 9 – 12: repeat rnd 7 + 8 alternatively
TURTLE BELLY BOTTOM Green

- rnd 1: 8 sc in MR (8)
- rnd 2: inc x 8 (16)
- rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 8 (24)
- rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 8 (32)
- rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 8 (40)
- rnd 6: (4 sc, inc) x 8 (48)
FO leaving long tail for sewing and stuffing before closing.
You can make the same increase as the base of the shell for easier sewing but this pattern gives it a more diagonal look which is closer to an actual turtle.
HEAD AND NECK One Piece Green

- rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)
- rnd 2: (sc, inc) x 3 (9)
- rnd 3–5: sc around (9)
- rnd 6: (sc, dec) x 3 (6)
- rnd 7–10: sc around (6)
- optional: add 1 more round sc if you want a slightly longer neck
- FO, leaving a long tail for sewing
- add safety eyes or embroidered eyes between rnds 3 and 4, embroider a smile.
Add a pink plush, or using a lace pink yarn make a 6 sc in MR and sew it on the cheek to give it a rosy look.
Turtle FINS Make 4 Green
Front Fins / Arms

- rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
- rnd 2: inc x 6 (12)
- rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
- FO, fold flat and slst the sides then sew it to the body.
BACK LEGS Make 2 Green
- Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
- Round 2: sc, inc repeat around (9)
- Rounds 3 to 5: SC around (9)
- FO lightly stuff if desired and sew flat near the back of the shell
ASSEMBLY
- Attach head to the front of the shell
- Sew front arms slightly under head angled downward
- Sew back legs wider apart near the back edge
- Embroider a mouth if desired
