Sunflower Petals
Work the following sequence into each stitch around the flower center:

Repeat the entire sequence 12 times around the flower, this will give the petals its pointy look which resembles the sunflower petals.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Crochet Leaf
Using green yarn:
Note: if you are using the sunflower as a keychain, you can skip the leaf but it add a beautiful touch, I’d keep it on the chains instead of attaching it to the sunflower itself.
- Ch 12.
- Starting in the second chain from the hook, work: Sc, Hdc, Dc, Tr in next 4 stitches, Dc, Hdc, (Sl St, Ch 1, Sl St) in the tip.
- Continue working along the opposite side of the chain: Sc, Hdc, Dc, Tr in next 4 stitches, Dc, Hdc, Sc.

Assembly
- glue the leaf to the back or side of the sunflower or leave it free and attach it through a ring to the keychain.
- Attach a keyring through the top of the flower.
- Weave in all remaining ends securely.
Your sunflower keychain is now ready to use or gift.
Creative Ways to Use Crochet Sunflowers
While this pattern makes a beautiful keychain, there are plenty of other ways to use these cheerful flowers around your home.
Curtain Tiebacks
Use a large weight Yarn and make the same pattern but slightly bigger size, for a curtain tie, and skip the leaf (optional), a large Sunflower will look amazing at the front end of the tie, you can make multiple leaves and attach them or let them hanging from the tie.
Decorative Vase Fillers
Create a bouquet of crochet sunflowers with stems and place them in a vase. Unlike real flowers, they’ll stay vibrant all year long and require no maintenance, you can bend the stem wire to look like the sunflower is facing the sun or make multiple straight ones, here I also recommend that you do not use leaves and they take space in the vase and make the flower set at different height.
Cushion and Pillow Embellishments
Sew individual sunflowers onto throw pillows to add a handmade botanical accent to your living room décor. You can attach up to 3 in a circular or semi circular manner to make them pop more.
Gift Toppers
Attach a sunflower to wrapped gifts instead of a traditional bow. The recipient gets both a beautiful package and a reusable handmade keepsake.
