Materials Needed
- light weight yarn in beige or your color of choice
- Crochet hook 3.0 mm
- Floral wire (optional, for shaping petals)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations Used
- MR = Magic Ring
- sc = single crochet
- hdc-inc = half double crochet increase (2 hdc in one stitch)
- dc = double crochet
- ch = chain
- slst = slip stitch
- FO = fasten off
Small Petals (Make 3)
These form the tight center bud of the rose.
Round 1: MR, 10 dc (10 stitches)
Round 2: hdc-inc × 10 (20 stitches)
Round 3: 6 sc, [sc, ch 1] × 8, 6 sc – FO leaving a long tail for assembly
Medium Petals (Make 4)
These wrap around the outside and give the rose its shape.
Round 1: MR, 10 dc (10 stitches)
Round 2: hdc-inc × 10 (20 stitches)
Round 3: [sc, dc] × 10 around (20 stitches)
Round 4: 2 sc, dec, 4 sc, [sc, ch 2] × 14, 4 sc, dec, 2 sc – FO leaving a long tail for assembly.
Green Calyx (Flower Base)
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6 stitches)
Round 2: inc around (12 stitches)
Round 3: (sc, inc) around (18 stitches)
Round 4: 18 sc, slst
Sepals: Ch 13, skip first chain, slst, 2 sc, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 4 tr in remaining chains. Skip 2 stitches on the base, slst in 3rd stitch. Repeat 5 more times to create multiple sepals around the calyx.
sc, ch1 all around to give it a wild flower look – optional.
Leaves (Make 1)
Foundation: Ch 12, insert wire for structure
First Side: sc, dc, tr, 2 dtr, dtr inc, dtr, tr, dc, hdc, 3 sc in the last chain
Second Side (working along opposite side of chain): hdc, dc, tr, dtr, dtr inc, 2 dtr, tr, dc, sc, slst
sc, ch1 all around.
Finish: FO and cut yarn, leaving a tail for assembly
Assembly Instructions
- Wrap the 2 small petals around the center against each other to form a circle like shape, glue the third one one one side.
- Attach the 4 medium petals evenly around the outside, spacing them so each one fills the gap between the small petals
