Materials & Tools
- Green yarn (for the stem and calyx base)
- Preferred flower petal yarn color (Red, Pink, White, etc.)
- Crochet hook suitable for the yarn weight I used 4 mm hook with medium weight yarn (worsted)
- Thin craft wire (for the leaf)
- Tapestry needle & scissors
- Assembly stem & hot glue
Pattern Abbreviations (US Terms)
- MR: Magic Ring
- sc: Single Crochet
- hdc: Half Double Crochet
- dc: Double Crochet
- inc: Increase (2 sc in same stitch)
- sl st: Slip Stitch
- ch: Chain
- FLO: Front Loops Only
- BLO: Back Loops Only
- sk st: Skip Stitch
The Stem & Calyx Base (Green Yarn)
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in a Magic Ring (MR), sl st to join.
- Rnd 2: Inc x 6. (12 sts)
- Rnds 3–7: 12 sc. (12 sts)
- Rnd 8: Working in FLO, (sc, dc, sc) x 12.
- Cut off the green yarn.
The Petals
Return to Round 7 to work in the unworked Back Loops Only (BLO).
- Round 1: Attach your preferred petal color yarn to the BLO of Round 7. Ch 2 (counts as first dc), work 2 more dc in the same stitch. Continue making 3 dc in each stitch all the way around. Sl st to join.
- Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as dc), work 2 more dc in the same stitch. Repeat 3 dc in each stitch all around. Sl st to end this round.
- Round 3: Ch 3, sc in the first st. Repeat (ch 3, sc) all around. Sl st to join and cut off the yarn. Weave in ends.
Step 3: The Leaf
- Ch 16. Insert a wire along your chain and sk st (skip 1st chain from hook).
- Work 5 hdc, 9 sc, then 3 sc in the end stitch to turn.
- Working along the other side: 9 sc, 5 hdc.
- Next Round: (sc, ch 2) all around to finish the edge. Fasten off.
